WELGAMA

Our services

Inspection & Certification

Independent inspection and certification of drill string, tubulars, BHA, lifting gear and rigs — by ASNT / PCN Level II and III inspectors, to the international standard that applies.

Magnetic particle inspection of drilling equipment

WELGAMA inspects, tests and certifies drilling, lifting and production equipment for operators, drilling contractors and service companies. Our inspectors are trained and certified to ASNT or PCN NDT Level II or Level III and work to the applicable international standards — agreed with you before the inspection starts.

NDE services

Non-destructive testing confirms the integrity of equipment without damaging it: the item remains identical to its pre-inspection condition. We help you choose the right method based on the material, the geometry and the extent and depth of inspection the standard requires.

  • Visual Inspection (VI) and Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Eddy Current Testing (ET)
  • Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) and Electro-Magnetic Induction (EMI)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Phased Array (PAUT) and Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
  • Internal Rotating Inspection System (IRIS) and thermographic control

NDT covers everything from plates and padeyes to shackles and hooks, and is used extensively in weld inspection. Any defect or finding is reported to the owner so they can decide the next action.

Lifting gear inspection

Inspection of the lifting unit and its accessories — shackles, master links, slings, eyebolts, hooks and beams. Lifting gear is generally re-inspected every six months to confirm it is safe to use. Methods applied: magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, eddy current and ultrasonic testing, plus proof load testing.

Tubular (OCTG) inspection

As drilling conditions become more demanding, so do the standards for Oil Country Tubular Goods. Our inspectors test and certify drill pipe, casing, tubing and MWD/LWD tools:

  • Visual body and thread inspection, API thread gauging
  • Electro-Magnetic Induction (EMI) and full-length ultrasonic inspection
  • Full-length API drifting and ultrasonic wall-thickness control
  • Special end-area inspection by wet MPI or UT, hardness testing

Standards include API RP 7G, API 5CT, API 5B, API 5L and T.H. Hill DS-1 Category 1–5.

BHA inspection

Regular inspection of the bottom-hole assembly finds defects before they cause accidents or downtime. We combine magnetic particle inspection for surface and near-surface discontinuities, ultrasonic testing for internal defects, and a thorough visual inspection for wear and damage.

Proof load testing

We verify that cranes, lifting equipment, cables, chains, bolts and structures can carry their maximum expected load without failure or unacceptable deformation. Every test starts with a consultation and a pre-test inspection; the load is then applied in a controlled way with measurements at regular intervals, and you receive a detailed report with recommendations.

Rig inspection

  • Visual inspection of the mast, derrick, substructure and drill floor for wear, corrosion and damage
  • Non-destructive testing — UT, MPI and dye penetrant — to find hidden defects
  • Load testing of critical components such as the derrick, crown block and drawworks
  • Compliance assessment against applicable regulations and industry standards
  • Clear reporting with analysis and recommended repairs or maintenance

Visual (borescope) inspection

High-resolution borescopes let us examine the inside of turbines, engines, pipelines and boilers without dismantling them. We record images and video, document the findings and recommend repairs where needed.
